LORETTO, P.A.- FDU women's volleyball (3-14,1-2) were defeated by Saint Francis University (7-7,2-1) in four on the road at DeGol Arena in their third conference match. (25-22,25-19,25-22,25-23)
- Sofia Rampazzo led the Knights in kills with 12.
- SFU (.229) out-hit FDU (.165) 56-48.
- The Knights out-blocked the Red Flash 8-7.
Set 1
- FDU opened the match posting the first two points on the board as a result of two attacking errors from SFU.
- The Knights kicked it into high gear, down by two (17-19), with a four-point-run followed by an instant side out and another run to take the set 25-22.
- Rampazzo hit .250 with five aces.
Set 2
- The Knights kept the score within two points until the 15-15 mark where the Red Flash had two, two-point-runs to take the lead.
- SFU closed out the second set with a four-point run to finish it off at 25-19.
- FDU kept it close with nine tie scores throughout.
Set 3
- FDU started strong with a 9-5 lead in the set as a result of two two-point runs and one three-point run.
- SFU rallied a seven-point run to make up the deficit and make it 12-9
- The Knights found an answer with a two-point run and a three-point run to even out the match at 15-15.
- The Red Flash gained control after a four-point run pulling ahead to 21-17.
- The Knights worked to chisel away at the small leads but missed the mark with a service and hitting error to end the set 25-22.
Set 4
- Early in the set, FDU and SFU attacked the score aggressively going back and forth until the Red Flash gained control after a three-point run at 20-17
- The Knights matched the score at 22 with an ace from Hannah Schmidt to stay alive but back-to-back FDU hitting errors drew the match to a close at 25-23.
The Knights head to Le Moyne in Syracuse, N.Y. to play a 5 p.m. match tomorrow at Ted Grant Court, marking their first NEC contest facing the Dolphins.
