FDU Improves to Nine Conference Wins in Victory Over Stonehill

EASTON, M.A.- FDU (11-15,9-2) defeated Stonehill (2-27,2-9) in four sets at Merkert Gymnasium this Friday evening. (25-18,29-27,25-,20,25-23)

  • Reigning NEC/Molten player of the week Tatijana Fucka led the Knights with 11 kills on .333 hitting percentage, while tallying two aces.  
  • NEC rookie of the week Avery Bain was close behind with 10 kills on an impressive .450 hitting percentage.   
  • The Knights outhit the Skyhawks 58-55 and out-dug them 57-46.   
  • With their ninth NEC win, FDU ties their single-season program record.  

  

How It Happened

Set 1   

  • The Knights steadily collected points on their way to a 13-6 lead.   
  • Stonehill had a run to cut the lead to three, but the Knights sided out with a kill from Bain to make it 14-10.   
  • FDU grew that lead to finish it off 25-18  
  • Kinsley Warbritton (.833) and Bain (.556) had had five kills each.  

  

Set 2  

  • Stonehill had a late three-point run that forced FDU timeout trailing 23-20.   
  • T. Fucka came out of the break with a kill to spark a Knights' response.    
  • The teams played point for point for 10 exciting rallies before Stonehill finally closed out the set at 29-27.   
  • There were 15 tie-scores and four lead changes.   

  

Set 3  

  • FDU found their momentum with a 4-0 run to give them a 15-11 lead.  
  • Stonehill closed cut the lead to 15-14 but the Knights held on to finish it 25-20. 

Set 4  

  • The Burgundy and Blue had two early three-point runs to earn a 9-5 lead.   
  • The Skyhawks would pull ahead with a 11-3 run that gave them a 16-12 advantage.  
  • The Knights chipped away to push five-straight and took set 25-23.
