The Knights jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the opening frame, which forced LIU into an early timeout. Out of the break, the Sharks found their footing and were able to close the deficit to 10-8. The Knights responded quickly winning six of the next nine points to reestablish their five-point lead at 16-11. Despite multiple LIU spurts, Tatijana Fucka put down a kill that won set one for FDU. 25-22.

In the second set, it was LIU getting off on the attacking-foot with an 8-3 run to open the frame. Their five-point advantage held until a 5-0 Knight run knotted things at 11-11. With the score tied 14-14, FDU utilized yet another 5-0 run to take command of the set at 19-14. They went on to win it 25-18.
