HACKENSACK, N.J- FDU dropped a five-set marathon to NJIT in front of a raucous Rothman Center crowd on Tuesday night. It is the second-consecutive match that the Knights have come up short in five.

How it Happened
Set 1
- The Knights started out hot with two instant aces from Schmidt, early runs, and instant side-outs to earn an 11-2 lead. FDU kept that lead and finished set one, 25-11.
Set 2
- FDU controlled the pace of set two until NJIT exploded on two three-point runs to close the gap at 23-21. NJIT completed the comeback and evened the match, 26-24.
Set 3
- Set three was close as the teams came together for 15 ties and six lead changes.
- With the score tied at 25-25, T. Fucka put down a kill which was followed up by a Madisyn Beirne ace to win the set, 27-25.
Set 4
- Despite having their backs against the wall, the Highlanders confidently controlled the fourth frame. The Knights led a mere three times before NJIT extended the match, 25-20.
Set 5
- FDU worked to close an early 12-5 deficit, but NJIT was able to hold them off. The Highlanders closed the set and match by a decisive 15-12 score.
The Road Ahead
The Knights are back on the road Friday for the Steel Classic Tournament hosted by Lehigh University. The Knights take on Binghamton on Friday at 4 p.m., Virginia Tech at 10 a.m. on Saturday and finish the trip on Saturday night against Lehigh at 7 p.m.
