HACKENSACK, NJ- FDU Women's Volleyball (6-15,4-2) had back-to-back sweeps this weekend with tonight's win against the Merrimack Warriors (4-15,3-4) at the Rothman Center. (26-24,25-15,25-13)
- Giorgia Vaschetti had a great match hitting .423 with 13 kills.
- Rebeka Fucka had four aces in the first set and played great defense in her serving rotation.
Set 1
- At 10-8 the Knights went on a seven-point run with R. Fucka who put down three aces to pull ahead 15-10.
- Merrimack had their own run to close it at 15 and played point-for-point before R. Fucka tied it at 24 with her fourth ace.
- Vaschetti had a beautiful line shot kill, her fifth of the set, before an Merrimack error to take it 26-24.
Set 2
- The Knights had another five-point-run at 8-3 followed by a string of instant side outs and a six-point-run at 22-11 to dominate the set with a 25-15 finish.
Set 3
- Tied at 8 the Knights pushed three then sided out to push another six and pull ahead 17-9.
- FDU then scored another five to pull ahead 22-11 and finish the set 25-13.
The Knights are set to begin the second round of NEC play next Friday at Sacred Heart's William H. Pitt Center in Fairfield, Connecticut.
